The inter-university competition "Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon 2025" concluded its fourth season with impressive figures, marking significant growth compared to previous editions. With over 3,000 student registrations from more than 15 universities nationwide, this year’s competition set new benchmarks in scale and demonstrated strong appeal to the student community interested in financial technology.
The expansion in participating universities—from 10 in the previous season to 15 this season—reflects the competition’s growing influence. Alongside familiar institutions such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, Foreign Trade University – Campus II, University of Economics HCMC, HCMC Banking University, and Ton Duc Thang University, this season welcomed new participants including Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, National Economics University, University of Economics – Law, Gia Dinh University, Academy of Cryptography Techniques, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport.
The diversity of academic disciplines among participating universities created a rich talent pool. Students from technical schools like Technology and Transport universities contributed strong technological development capabilities, while students from the Academy of Cryptography Techniques brought expertise in information security—an essential aspect of Fintech and Blockchain. Students from economics-focused universities such as National Economics University and University of Economics – Law excelled in market analysis, business modeling, and legal frameworks.
The competition was organized under the guidance and support of three main co-organizing universities: Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, University of Industry and Trade HCMC, and Gia Dinh University. The participation of University of Industry and Trade and Gia Dinh University was a new addition this season, demonstrating the commitment of multiple universities to promoting fintech education.
The Fintech and Digital Assets Promotion Network (FADA) continued to play a key co-organizing role, alongside active involvement from numerous student clubs. In addition to familiar clubs such as HUFIC, FFC, and SCUE, this season saw participation from the Financial Investment Club of Van Lang University (VFC), Gia Dinh University Software Club (GSW), and the Blockchain Committee (TEC Go) under the Future Entrepreneurs Club of Foreign Trade University (TEC).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Vice President of HUFLIT, shared: “We are extremely proud to continue organizing the inter-university Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon 2025. The competition is not only an annual event but also a testament to our commitment to nurturing talented young people who will shape the future of the financial technology industry.”
Building on the success of the previous three seasons, this year’s competition continued with two tracks: the Research track for in-depth studies on Fintech and Blockchain, and the Hackathon track for developing practical technological products. This structure allowed students with different strengths to participate and showcase their capabilities.
