The inter-university competition "Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon 2025" expanded significantly, with over 3,000 students registering from more than 15 universities nationwide. This not only reflects the strong appeal of the competition but also highlights the growing interest of the younger generation in the field of financial technology.
This year’s participating universities were highly diverse, including Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Foreign Trade University – Campus II, University of Economics HCMC, National Economics University, University of Economics – Law, Gia Dinh University, Ton Duc Thang University, HCMC Banking University, Academy of Cryptography Techniques, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport. Each institution brought its own strengths, creating a rich and varied talent pool.
Students from technical universities such as Technology and Transport universities contributed strong technological development capabilities and rigorous engineering thinking. Meanwhile, students from the Academy of Cryptography Techniques brought expertise in information security—a critical element in Fintech and Blockchain, where data and transaction protection is a top priority.
Students from economics-focused universities such as University of Economics HCMC, National Economics University, and University of Economics – Law excelled in market analysis, business modeling, and regulatory frameworks. Notably, students from University of Economics – Law possessed a dual advantage in both economics and law, providing them with a comprehensive understanding not only of technology but also of compliance and regulations in the financial sector.
Students from HCMC Banking University contributed deep knowledge in banking and finance, while those from Foreign Trade University excelled in international trade and cross-border payments. This diversity fostered interdisciplinary teams where members complemented each other, producing well-rounded projects.
Building on the success of the previous three seasons, this year’s competition continued with two tracks: the Research track for in-depth studies on Fintech and Blockchain, and the Hackathon track for developing practical technological products. This structure allowed students with different strengths to participate and showcase their abilities.
Mr. Truong Gia Bao, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Development Committee (VSID), emphasized: “As an organization operating in the Fintech and Blockchain sector, we are always looking for breakthrough ideas and high-quality talent. The inter-university Fintech - Blockchain Hackathon 2025 is an excellent bridge that allows organizations like ours to access a pool of young, enthusiastic, and creative talent from universities.”
